32 Herzl Street, Old City, Beer Sheva

A wine bar at the start of the Old City's pedestrian street, opened by Or Dai, with tapas and seasonal plates beside wines from Israel and abroad, and its tables out on the street in the evening

Château D'Or is a wine bar at 32 Herzl Street in Beer Sheva's Old City, at the start of the Keren Kayemet LeIsrael pedestrian street. It was opened by Or Dai, who has worked in restaurants since she was 15 and, as mako's Lin Levi wrote in July 2025, has worked in a long list of Beer Sheva restaurants in every job from clearing tables and waiting to managing, consulting and setting them up. mako called it the city's first wine bar, and a Spotit piece of January 2022 said it had opened about four months earlier. In its own words it is a place of simplicity and good people, without lofty wine manners, whose flirt with the western Mediterranean and European chic brings a wide range of wines beside tapas and light dishes. Israel Hayom wrote in February 2025 that its wine list runs to wines from all over the world, with an emphasis on small Israeli wineries, that its plates and bites follow what the local market has each day, and that Or now and then hosts winemakers, distillers and others from Israel's drinks scene. The menu changes with the seasons: its listing on eat7 speaks of tapas to share, changing plates of cheeses from Israeli dairies and handmade pasta, and mako named leek confit on skordalia, feta cream with pistachio honey, a beetroot salad with truffle mascarpone, black tortellini filled with polenta cream and cloud gnocchi, with raw fish on Thursdays, and wrote that Or does the cooking herself. In the evening its 60 seats spread out onto the pedestrian street under strings of lights, while inside is a small room with shelves full of wine and a brown velvet sofa. It opens from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday night, from 19:00, with a happy hour until 20:30, and takes table bookings on Tabit. Channel 13 included it in August 2025 among seven Beer Sheva restaurants, and mako's travel section named it in July 2026 among the stops of "Leilot Ba'Atika", a night bar tour of the Old City.

Sources disagree on these hours

Its booking page on Tabit says it is open from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday night, from 19:00, with a happy hour from 19:00 to 20:30, and it takes table bookings there on those days only. Its Google listing, as Wanderlog and its Tabit record copy it, gives 19:00 to midnight on those days and has it closed on Sunday and Friday. Its listing on eat7 gives the same days but closes at 01:00, and at 01:30 on Thursday, and Beer Sheva's tourism site gives the same days, from 19:00 until the last customer. mako printed the same days in July 2025, and Israel Hayom 19:00 to 23:00 in February 2025. Channel 13 printed in August 2025 Sunday to Wednesday 19:00 to 01:00, Thursday 19:00 to 01:30, Friday 12:00 to 16:00 and Saturday 20:00 to 01:30.
