The Kampai group's first restaurant: sushi, wok dishes and a big cocktail bar in the BIG centre since 2008, open seven days a week

Kampai is an Asian restaurant and sushi bar in the BIG shopping centre on Heil HaHandasa Street in Beer Sheva. Its name is Japanese for "cheers", which, by its own account, is how it receives its guests. It opened in 2008, founded, as Calcalist told it in 2013, by the brothers Yossi and Roi Schwartz, who had opened the Forum club in 1988, with their partners Alon Elbaz, Golan Butbul and Assaf Abutbul; in 2014 mako described a 600-square-metre restaurant feeding more than 450 diners on a working day. It was the first restaurant of what became the Kampai group, which today also runs KEPASA, HaSifria, Koh Thai, Kampai Street Wok, Shifra and Chi-Chi, the balcony bar where seating starts at 19:00 and is for over-18s. The group chef, Dror Shushan, is responsible for its dishes. The menu runs from sushi, with hosomaki, uramaki, nigiri, special rolls such as the sunset roll and the volcano roll, and combinations, to starters such as Korean cauliflower and mandu dumplings, salads, ramen, noodles and rice from the wok, steamed buns, an entrecôte and a salmon fillet from the grill, a kids' meal and a vegan menu, beside a bar of wine, beer and cocktails mixed by its bartenders. In October 2025 mako's Lin Levi chose its Vietnamese sirloin salad as Beer Sheva's dish in "30 dishes, 30 cities", writing that it has been served since the day the restaurant opened, and named the sunset roll and the chow chow noodles among its highlights. mako's 2022 guide called it one of the best-known restaurants in Beer Sheva, if not the best known, and ynet's Liad Verber put the veteran Asian restaurant among 15 places not to miss in the city that year. Business lunches are served at midday from Sunday to Thursday, and it is open on Friday and Saturday too.

Sushi rolls on tiered stands; here they run from hosomaki and nigiri to the sunset roll, wrapped in soy-cured salmon and thin lemon slices
A bowl of noodle soup; here the ramen comes as chicken paitan or as a vegan Sapporo ramen in a root vegetable and white miso broth
A cocktail on a wooden bar; here the bartenders mix cocktails at a big bar, and Chi-Chi, the balcony bar, seats over-18s from 19:00

Sources disagree on these hours

Its website gives 12:00 to midnight every day from Sunday to Saturday at the foot of each of its pages; the block above it on its home page says 12:00 to 00:30, as ynet printed in 2022. The weekly schedule of its Tabit bookings, last changed on 16 September 2026, keeps Friday and Saturday open until 01:00. Its Google listing, as Wanderlog copies it, has 12:00 to midnight every day, while the copy in its Tabit record, dated 7 September 2026, has 09:30 to 23:30 on Saturday. Business lunches are served from Sunday to Thursday between 12:00 and 17:00, and seating at Chi-Chi, its balcony bar, starts at 19:00. Wolt takes delivery orders from 11:45 to midnight, with a pause on Friday between 19:00 and 21:30; those are ordering hours.
