The Wilfrid Israel Museum of Art and Asian Studies in Kibbutz HaZore'a was founded in 1951 and is one of the oldest museums in Israel. It began with the collections of Wilfrid Israel, son of a well-off German Jewish merchant, who formed close ties in the years of Nazism's rise with the members of the movement who went on to found HaZore'a. The building, planned in the mid-1940s by the architects of the kibbutz's whole central core, faces the kibbutz's great lawn as the plan of the kibbutz intended, and has since grown several additions at the back. Its collections cover India, Nepal and Tibet, China, Japan and Korea, Thailand and Cambodia, Persia, Greece and Egypt, with a collection of local archaeology dug and studied by a member of the kibbutz, shown beside changing exhibitions, gallery talks with exhibiting artists, courses and an art workshop for children and adults.
