These common cases show the purchase tax on a home at three prices.
| Price of the home | Single home | Additional home | New immigrant |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₪1,500,000 | ₪0 | ₪120,000 | ₪0 |
| ₪2,500,000 | ₪20,538 | ₪200,000 | ₪2,606 |
| ₪4,000,000 | ₪95,538 | ₪320,000 | ₪10,106 |
For example, a single home at ₪2,500,000 pays ₪20,538 in purchase tax, which is 0.82% of the price. An additional home at the same price pays ₪200,000, and a new immigrant's home pays ₪2,606.
The tax is worked out slice by slice, and each slice has its own rate.
| Part of the price | Rate |
|---|---|
| Up to ₪1,978,745 | 0% |
| ₪1,978,745 to ₪2,347,040 | 3.5% |
| ₪2,347,040 to ₪6,055,070 | 5% |

| Above ₪20,183,565 | 10% |
| Part of the price | Rate |
|---|---|
| Up to ₪6,055,070 | 8% |
| Above ₪6,055,070 | 10% |
| Part of the price | Rate |
|---|---|
| Up to ₪1,978,745 | 0% |
| ₪1,978,745 to ₪6,055,070 | 0.5% |
| ₪6,055,070 to ₪20,183,565 | 8% |
A home worth more than ₪20,183,565 is taxed on the single home brackets.
The price is cut into slices at the top of each bracket. Each slice pays the rate of its bracket, the tax on a slice is rounded to the whole shekel, and the tax is the slices added together.
For example, here is the tax on a single home at ₪2,500,000:
- The first ₪1,978,745 pays nothing.
- The next ₪368,295, up to ₪2,347,040, pays 3.5%, which is ₪12,890.
- The last ₪152,960 pays 5%, which is ₪7,648.
- The tax is ₪20,538 in all, which is 0.82% of the price.
