It takes its cue from New York in the Prohibition years, when bars hid behind a secret door or passed as some other business, and getting into one felt like reaching the promised land. The Machneyuda group has taken the bar on and put the alcohol at the centre: a long drinks list, from classic and seasonal cocktails to the group's own blends and labels. The food is written to go with the cocktails: bresaola, corned beef aged for 18 days, a sausage, pistachios from Turkey, cheeses, cured meats, nuts, sandwiches and pickles. It opens every evening at 19:00, and it takes private events with a set menu for 12 guests or more from Sunday to Wednesday and for 10 or more on Thursday and Friday.
