Pizzas, focaccias and clay-pot casseroles from a taboon, in a castle-like stone building in Ein Kerem with a terrace over the green hills, open seven days a week

Karma is a restaurant on Ein Kerem Street, among the alleys of the old village of Ein Kerem, in a building the city's tourism site likens to an ancient castle, with two floors and a terrace that looks out over the green landscape; Rest describes its walls of Jerusalem stone and its coloured windows. Its owner and chef is Erez Shabo, who told Kol Ha'ir in December 2019 that it had been open on Saturdays and holidays for twelve years; its website still carries his name. It calls its kitchen Italian-Israeli. A taboon in the middle of the restaurant bakes its focaccias and pizzas and its casseroles, clay bowls sealed with pizza dough over beef meatballs or seafood with fresh pasta, and the menu runs on to pastas, grilled chicken thighs and beef kebab, a burger ground on the premises, a 350-gram sirloin, sea bream, shrimps and calamari, and pastries from the taboon for dessert. It opens every day of the week, Saturday included, and serves business lunches from Sunday to Thursday. Shabo told Kol Ha'ir that Ein Kerem fills with visitors on Saturdays and that the restaurant is always full then; tables from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening are booked by phone. Its upper floor takes private events of up to 60 guests, with set menus. Rest's magazine put it on a 2025 list of romantic restaurants in Jerusalem, and Kol Ha'ir named it in July and August 2026 among the city's places open on Shabbat.
