A restaurant and café on HaGa'aton Boulevard, run by one family since 1940 and known for its Penguin schnitzel and Central European home cooking.

Penguin was founded in 1940 by Hugo Oppenheimer and his son Ernst, who had come to Nahariya from Germany in the mid-1930s, and its site says it is now run by Amir Oppenheimer, the founder's great-grandson and the fourth generation. In the 1940s and 1950s it was a second home to the town's veterans and new immigrants, and in the 1960s honeymoon couples danced in its garden to an orchestra. The kitchen keeps the dishes it has cooked since then, Penguin schnitzel, goulash soup, cordon bleu, Bavarian bratwurst and spätzle with goulash, beside pizzas, pastas, salads and breakfasts. Its front terrace looks over the Ga'aton stream running down the middle of the boulevard. Café Ilan, a strong espresso with a little milk and foam in a plain glass, is named after Ilan Oppenheimer, who came back from Germany in 1972 to run the café.
