Mergui came second on HaKokhav HaBa at 17 and went on to record in Hebrew and English
Mergui, born Yehonatan (Jonathan) Mergui in Tel Aviv in 2000, studied in the music track of Ironi Alef high school in Tel Aviv. At 17 he took part in the fifth season of HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovision, and in the February 2018 final he finished second, behind Netta Barzilai.
His first single, Teni Li Rega, came out in August 2018, and his first EP, Ma Yihye, in 2019. In 2020 he signed with Saban Music Group, and Lo Yotze LaMesibot reached the top places of the weekly Galgalatz and Media Forest charts. In May 2022 he opened for Maroon 5 in Tel Aviv, and that July he released his first song in English, Sucks to Know You (FU).
