Herzliya's museum and archive of the city's history, in the Chizik family's pioneer home and garden on HaNadiv Street

Beit Rishonim is Herzliya's museum and archive of the city's history, set in a garden of old trees in the house that was the home of the Chizik family, among the town's pioneers and builders. It tells the story of Herzliya from the settlers' arrival on the land in 1924 to the founding of the state and beyond: Richard Kauffmann's town plan, the struggle with the swamps of the Bassa, the Roman-Byzantine tunnel and the setting up of the Haganah. The permanent display includes a reconstructed pioneers' hut, a 1940s living room in the Chizik family's original lounge, the tools of the colony's common trades and an interactive display on water, the swamp, defence and clandestine immigration. The botanical garden planted by Baruch Chizik holds fruit trees and Land of Israel plants beside farm tools from the colony's early days, and the second floor holds an auditorium and the municipal historical archive of documents, photographs, films and books.
