28 Hebron Road, beside the First Station, Jerusalem

The Machneyuda Group's restaurant in the old railway station's hangar beside the First Station, with a bar facing the open kitchen and meat aged on the premises

Hasadna, The Culinary Workshop in English, is the Machneyuda Group's restaurant in the hangar of Jerusalem's old railway station, at 28 Hebron Road beside the First Station; its English booking page calls it the juicy, meaty sister of Machneyuda. By its own account the iron and wood of the station are still the base of its design, and the kitchen works like a workshop, with the emphasis on its raw materials. Its chef, Shachar Shmuel, joins Mizrahi influences from home with Israeli Mediterranean cooking, and the desserts, the pasta and the ageing of the meat are done on the premises. The room is large: seats at the bar face the open kitchen, a terrace outside is for a quieter meal in the cool Jerusalem air, a long knights' table takes families and groups of friends, and small tables are kept for a more intimate meal. The menu runs from a plate of hot peppers and a bucket of boneless wings to soft polenta with mushroom ragout and truffle oil, oxtail pappardelle, smoked brisket and a smash burger, with cuts from the dry-ageing fridge sold by weight, and the bar keeps a cocktail list of its own. ynet wrote in 2022 that it is probably the most family-style of the group's restaurants, calm and elegant, with meat at the centre of the menu and fish and seafood as guests, and mako had called it the group's most family-like place in 2021. The Debbest blog named it Jerusalem's best restaurant for Friday night in 2022, and Rest's magazine called it the upscale one of the group in its 2025 list of the city's romantic restaurants. It is not kosher. It opens for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday and for lunch on Saturday, and is closed on Sunday and Monday.

Sources disagree on these hours

Its website gives Tuesday to Thursday 18:30 to 23:00, Friday 18:00 to 23:00 and Saturday 12:30 to 16:30 and 18:30 to 23:00, and gives no hours for Sunday or Monday. Its booking page on Ontopo and its Google listing, as Restaurant Guru and Wanderlog copy it, give the same openings and mark Sunday and Monday closed; Ontopo has it closing at 23:30 rather than 23:00. Its gallery pages still carry older lines: Wednesday to Saturday from 18:30 in Hebrew, and 18:30 to midnight in English. The city's tourism site, in an entry updated in July 2026, has it open every evening until 23:00, Sunday and Monday included, and on Saturday from 12:30 with no break, and the listing on d.co.il gives daytime hours that no other source gives. The phone is answered from Sunday to Thursday between 10:00 and 22:00 and on Friday between 10:00 and 14:30.
