An upper tributary of Nahal Tzin, in the Negev Highlands, Mitzpe Ramon

An unsprayed desert vineyard and natural winery in an upper tributary of Nahal Tzin in the Negev Highlands, beside the Mivdad Ramon retreat.

Kerem Shezaf lies in an upper tributary of Nahal Tzin in the Negev Highlands, a vineyard where the vines and the olive trees are not sprayed and are fed with compost; its page says the unsprayed wild growth gives it the highest share of beneficial insects in the Negev, such as the seven-spot ladybird, which prey on pests. Its grapes are trodden and fermented into natural wines by traditional methods, and it also presses a sharp olive oil and cures olives. The wines can be tasted and bought every day from 12:00 to 16:00, with arrival and tastings arranged ahead; a wine and cheese tasting costs 160 shekels and a cold picnic meal in the shade of the eucalyptus 140. Beside it stands Mivdad Ramon, a retreat in an orchard valley wrapped in vines and olive trees, which holds poetry, literature, lecture, music and dance evenings from time to time.
