People ask these questions about Israeli companies.

What is a company number (ח.פ.)?+

It is the nine-digit number the Registrar of Companies gives a company when it is registered. The number stays with the company for good, so it finds one company even when two share a name.

What does a company's status mean?+

The status is the one the Registrar lists. Active means the company is registered and is not being wound up or struck off. It does not say whether the company is trading.

Where does this information come from?+

From the register of companies that the Registrar of Companies publishes as open government data. Each page says the day the register was read.
