A museum of nature and settlement at Degania Alef, the first kibbutz, named for the Zionist thinker A. D. Gordon and opened in 1941

Beit Gordon is the first museum built by the labour settlement movement: its cornerstone was laid at Degania in 1935 as a collection and nature library named for A. D. Gordon, the Second Aliyah thinker who coined the saying "and learn Torah from nature". The nature teacher Yaakov Palmoni shaped the house and its collections, the architect Michael Leshchiner designed it, and it opened to visitors in March 1941; in the 1950s a water tower with an observatory and a telescope was added. Its displays cover the birds, mammals, reptiles, plants, minerals and fossils of the land and of the Kinarot Valley, original paintings by the Second Aliyah painter Aharon Halevi, a corner for Gordon, and an outdoor display of farm tools and ancient finds. The government recognised it as a national heritage site in 2010, and a multimedia show, "Lighting Up Nature", traces the landscape around the Sea of Galilee from the first Zionist settlement to today.
