Design Museum Holon opened in March 2010 in a building designed by Ron Arad Architects for the city of Holon, which its site says invested 17 million dollars in it. The 3,700-square-metre building is wrapped in five undulating bands of Corten steel, and its two main galleries, a 500-square-metre hall lit by filtered daylight and a 250-square-metre artificially lit 'black box', are linked by a sculptural ramp and a half-shaded inner courtyard. Each year it presents a programme of exhibitions and events on design and contemporary culture. The ticket also admits visitors to the Aharon Feiner Eden Materials Library, set up in 2008 as part of the Holon Mediatheque and run by the museum, where more than 1,000 materials can be touched and explored. Its site says a visit takes 60 to 75 minutes, and an audio guide is available.
