The Israeli Cartoon Museum was set up as a joint initiative of the Holon municipality, the Holon Theatre and the Israeli Cartoonists' Association, and its site calls it the fulfilment of a dream for Israel's cartoonists and comics artists. It shows caricature as a critical tool in society and comics as a literary genre with depth, and encourages research on Israeli caricature as a mirror of the local mood. Its archive holds tens of thousands of original works, press cuttings and books given by dozens of donors. The rooms on show include one on superheroes, one on the young artists killed since 7 October 2023, whose families lent their original works, one on biblical heroes and one on the pioneers of Hebrew caricature, with an audio guide played by scanning a code on a phone. It is part of the Holon Mediatheque, with the Design Museum, the Holon Cinematheque, the Mediatheque Theatre, the Materials Library and the central library.
