Power Coffeeworks was founded by Stephanie and Brandon Treger, a couple from Cape Town, South Africa, who moved to Israel with their family in 2016. Its site tells that they saw how little freshly roasted coffee there was around Jerusalem and, coming from the hospitality trade, opened a café in Mahane Yehuda market: a place to drink excellent coffee, meet people and stay a while, meant as a community hub as much as a coffee shop. From the start they roasted fresh beans daily and served them themselves. The café has since moved from Agripas Street to a larger space at 105 Jaffa Street, which its site calls a more popular spot for people who work from coffee shops and for residents. Its online shop sells the roasts, cold brew and coffee subscriptions, among them the Power dark house blend and dark roasts named for Colombia, Sumatra, Guatemala and Tarrazu.
