Ramban Hotel, 20 Ramban Street, Rehavia, Jerusalem

The Machneyuda group's first kosher meat restaurant, built around an open kitchen inside its boutique Ramban Hotel in Rehavia

Janjariya is the meat restaurant of the Ramban Hotel, the boutique hotel that the Machneyuda group of chefs Assaf Granit and Uri Navon opened in Rehavia, on the corner of Ramban and Ibn Gabirol streets; its own site calls it the group's first kosher meat restaurant. Walla ate there in December 2024, while the hotel was still in its trial run, and mako wrote in January 2025 that it had officially opened a few weeks earlier, beside the dairy Café Ramban in the same hotel. The name, by its own account, means "fertile lands", after the orchards and vineyards on which Rehavia was built, and ynet called it the neighbourhood's historic name. In the 1930s the building housed Café Rehavia, one of the first modern cafés in the city and a meeting place for Jerusalem's intellectuals and artists, British officers and Mandate officials, and photographs of Mandate-era Jerusalem and early Rehavia hang on its walls. Navon and Granit set up the hotel with five partners, among them Michael Yadid, whom mako named in January 2025 as the chef running the kitchen. The restaurant is an inner room on the entrance floor, reached through the café, and is built around a large open kitchen with seats at the kitchen bar, with more tables in the main room, on a covered balcony and at a bar in a back room. The cooking is mostly Mediterranean with a Jerusalem accent and nods to Turkey, Italy and Japan, and the menu changes every evening: the one on its website runs from sourdough bread with frena and a plate of hot peppers, Romanian ikra and Turkish muhammara to hummus sambusak, beef tartare, amberjack sashimi, a charcoal-grilled grouper skewer, beef fillet with foie gras and dry-aged entrecôte, tomahawk and prime rib, and the press has written of lamb-neck siniya with lahoh, fennel shishbarak, yakitori and a cold ramen of raw tuna. mako's critic wrote in January 2025 that from nine in the evening the music and dancing the group is known for take over, and mako wrote in July 2026 that the party runs on into the small hours. Time Out's list of 31 places to eat well in Jerusalem, dated 10 January 2026, puts it first, and mako's 2026 list of the 50 best kosher restaurants called it and Café Ramban the first real translation of the group's DNA into the kosher world. The hotel's restaurants take private events of up to 100 guests, and Karkish, its hall on the lower floor, up to 50. It has no Instagram account of its own: the hotel's account, @rambanhotel, which its pages link, carries both restaurants.

Sources disagree on these hours

These are the hours on its booking page on Ontopo, which its website links, as read on Thursday 1 October 2026, during Sukkot: Sunday to Wednesday 18:30 to 22:30 and Thursday 18:30 to 23:00, each "and until the last guests". On the Thursday it was read the page also had a lunch sitting from 12:30 to 15:30. On Friday it opens from 12:00 to 17:00 only on dates it announces, so Friday is left unconfirmed here. The one Saturday the page showed, 3 October 2026, was a festival day and is marked closed, and no source says whether it opens on Saturday nights. Its website gives no hours. Its listing on d.co.il gives 07:30 to 19:30 from Sunday to Thursday and 09:00 to 13:00 on Friday, which match no other source.
