Luciana in Modi'in was born, its site says, of the success of the much-loved Jerusalem branch and of the wish to open an Italian restaurant that offers both kosher mehadrin and authentic Italian flavours. Its site says every ingredient is chosen with care and every dish made with attention to the original tastes of the Italian kitchen, in a room with living plants, warm lighting and a striking fountain, and with personal service. The menu runs from taboon pizzas and focaccia to fresh pastas, ravioli, risotto, fish and desserts such as tiramisu and Sicilian cannoli. It is kosher mehadrin under the Badatz Beit Yosef and is on the town's list of kosher businesses. It is at 1 HaMelakhot Boulevard and opens from noon until 23:00 Sunday to Wednesday and until 23:30 on Thursday, from 10:00 on Friday, and again on Saturday night from about 45 minutes after Shabbat until midnight.
