Petah Tikva's museum of contemporary art, in the Kiryat HaMuseonim complex beside Yad Labanim House

By its own account, the Petach Tikva Museum of Art is a multidisciplinary stage for contemporary art, Israeli and international, and its links with music, craft, design, street culture, film, architecture, dance, science and philosophy. It grew out of the first Yad Labanim memorial house in Israel, set up at the initiative of David Ben-Gurion, and its new wing opened in 1964 in the Kiryat HaMuseonim complex, beside the memorial hall and two galleries in Yad Labanim House. Its collection traces Israeli art from the 1920s and is made up of several rare collections, shown alongside changing exhibitions. Its print workshop, expanded in 2019, works in relief printing, screen printing and etching, and since 2021 the museum orchestra of young musicians has played a repertoire matched to each cluster of exhibitions. The complex, which looks onto Independence Garden, also holds My First Museum for children aged 2 to 6, the city archive, an institute for visual art and an auditorium.
