Freddo is an ice-cream parlour at 86 Sokolov Street that makes ice cream in the South American style. Its site says it was set up in Ramat HaSharon some 30 years ago by Marcelo Altuv, whose family came to Israel from Uruguay, with help from a family friend who owned the Argentine ice-cream chain of the same name. Dulce de leche and zabaione, strong motifs of Uruguayan and Argentine ice cream, run through its flavours, everything is natural by its account, and its vanilla ice cream has 8.5 per cent fat. Besides ice cream it sells frozen yogurt, frozen fruit, ice-cream cakes, mousse cakes and boxes of brownies, alfajores and chocolate balls, and it brings ice-cream carts to events. It is open every day from 10:00 to 22:00.
