Bretonne began in 2016, when three childhood friends and a chef set out to bring the savoury French crêpe, the galette of Brittany in north-west France, to Ibn Gabirol Street in Tel Aviv, with touches of local Israeli taste, hence its name, a local crêperie. Chef Yonatan Bodek, who grew up in Paris, built its menu, and its site says the savoury galettes are made of a gluten-free buckwheat batter ground in its branches every day. The Ramat HaHayal branch, at 4 HaBarzel Street, is the chain's kosher one, a dairy restaurant with a menu of its own: vegan, cheese and fish galettes such as sweet potato and feta, Roquefort with beetroot cream or a Florentine galette with smoked salmon and an egg. It opens Sunday to Thursday from 10:00 to 23:00 and closes on Friday and Saturday, with a business lunch from 11:00 to 16:00 and a two-for-one happy hour on beer and wine from 16:00 to 19:00.
