The Old Man and the Sea on Kedem Street in Jaffa was founded in 1999 by Yunes Ali. Its site describes a large place on a small hill, looking out over the sea, where Arabs, Jews and tourists come for fish, seafood, meat, a spread of salads and hot pita from the taboon. A meal opens with 22 house salads, laffa bread and a jug of lemonade squeezed on the spot, and ends with coffee or tea and awameh dough balls in syrup, all within the price of the main course.
