Kalamata is named after the resort town in the southern Peloponnese where the purple olive grows. By its site it has spent more than a decade bringing Mediterranean flavours to Old Jaffa, with the kitchens of Greece, Italy, Cyprus and Israel to the fore. It sits in a stone building about 500 years old on historic Kedumim Square, with Jaffa's fishing port on one side, the old city on the other and a window onto the Mediterranean. The menu runs from mezze such as tzatziki, skordalia and stuffed vine leaves to grilled octopus, moussaka, gyros and fish from the plancha, and there is a separate lunch menu.
