Ashdod's museum of the Philistines, in Quarter D, with a permanent exhibition of some 140 archaeological objects

The museum was founded in 1990 as the Ashdod Museum named for Korin Maman, showing art by local artists, an archaeological display of mostly replicas and other exhibits. In 2013 it was upgraded and rededicated as the Korin Maman Museum of Philistine Culture, and its site says it is the only museum in Israel and the world devoted to the culture of the Philistines; in 2014 it was recognised by the Ministry of Culture and Sport. Its permanent exhibition, The World of the Philistines, shows some 140 archaeological objects and, its site says, looks at how the Philistines settled, lived alongside the local inhabitants and influenced them. The gallery of ethnography shows a new exhibition each year, now The Seam Line: Anthropology of Fashion. The permanent exhibition is adapted for visitors with visual, hearing and cognitive impairments, an audio guide in Hebrew and English opens by QR code, and groups can book a guided visit with a meal inspired by research into ancient Philistine cooking, served in a room designed after the palace of Knossos.
