The Lerner Sports Center stands on Mount Scopus and is run by the Cosell association, which also runs the Safra sports centre and a sports centre in Rehovot, and its site says it spreads over 47 dunams. Its gym, completed in 2009 and designed by the architect Moshe Gil, is an eight-sided building whose two round floors cover 870 square metres and face the open view of east Jerusalem, with more than 100 machines: cardio machines with personal screens on the first floor and strength machines and free weights on the second. The centre also has a covered, heated half-Olympic pool beside a large lawn, a basketball hall, a studio, a tennis club and a large free car park, and the gym admits members from age 17 who bring a medical certificate. A first induction and training-plan meeting with an instructor is part of the yearly membership. The centre is open from 11:00 to 22:00 on Sunday, from 06:15 to 22:00 from Monday to Thursday, from 07:00 to 17:00 on Friday and from 08:00 to 17:00 on Saturday.
