The first branch of Falafel Baribua, opened on Rothschild Street in Rishon LeZion in 1995, with falafel fried to order in an open kitchen

Falafel Baribua opened its first branch here, at 85 Rothschild Street, in 1995. Its site tells how its founder started it on his release from the army, with a small bank loan, an even smaller release grant and his late grandmother's recipe, and how his late father came up with the name, a promise that this is not just falafel but falafel squared. The idea was a modern take on the national dish: an open kitchen where the falafel is fried in front of the customer the moment it is ordered, an air-conditioned shop and packaging of its own design, and the chain now has more than 20 branches. The Rothschild branch is open from Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 to 21:00 and on Friday from 9:00 to 15:00.
