The museum of the Haganah in Eliyahu Golomb's 1923 house on Rothschild Boulevard, which served as the organisation's secret headquarters

The Haganah Museum stands on Rothschild Boulevard in a house built in 1923, around the home of Eliyahu Golomb, whom its pages call the founder and uncrowned commander of the Haganah; from 1930 to 1945 the house served as the organisation's secret headquarters. When the house was sold to a developer in the early 1950s, Haganah veterans made it a museum, and Golomb's living room, study and front were kept as they were, with three floors of exhibition built around them. The floors follow the Haganah from the first defence groups of 1907 and 1909 through the Mandate years, illegal immigration and the 1945 to 1947 struggle, to the War of Independence and the founding of the Israel Defense Forces in 1948, with large video screens, models and sets, told through a young Palmach member and a boy who survived the Holocaust. A visit includes an introductory film, a guided tour fitted to the visitors and a sound and light show on the battle for Jerusalem, and the display is in Hebrew and English.
