The house and studio of the painter Reuven Rubin on Bialik Street, kept as a museum of his work since 1983

The Rubin Museum is the house of the painter Reuven Rubin, built as a home in 1930, where he lived and worked with his family from 1946 until his death in 1974. Rubin left the house to the city of Tel Aviv with a collection of paintings that forms the core of the permanent display, and the museum opened to the public in 1983. Its four floors hold a children's workshop in the basement opening onto a covered back yard, a main gallery on the street floor, a second gallery with a reading room and library above, and on the top floor his studio kept as it was, with a documentary film and a biographical exhibition of photographs, drawings and papers. Its site says Rubin, born in 1893 in Galați, Romania, studied at Bezalel and in Paris and settled in the Land of Israel in 1923.
