Cafe Glida Yunek is a Romanian restaurant at 23 Kibbutz Galuyot Street in downtown Haifa, near the government compound. Its site calls it the oldest Romanian restaurant in the country, serving since 1948, and explains the name with a local saying: in Haifa, when people say let's go for ice cream, they mean meat. The kitchen grills steaks, kebabs, sausages and burgers, and the starters are what it is known for: ikra, chopped liver, aubergines and of course the pickles, all made in house, and everything it makes can be taken home too. It tries to keep the atmosphere the place has had since the 1940s, holds events for up to 150 guests, and since 2014 has a private room for up to 30. Its site quotes TheMarker as calling it a good place to bring children.
