Succah in the Desert was founded in 1989 at the edge of the Har HaNegev nature reserve as a model of ecological desert tourism, and it lies about 8 km from Mitzpe Ramon on Derekh Sfat Midbar, near the cliff of the Ramon crater. Guests sleep in private succahs, closed cabins built from ecological materials, and share two blocks of showers and dry toilets; all its electricity comes from the sun, and the water of the showers and the kitchen is filtered to water the gardens. Vegetarian meals from its own organic gardens are served together in the central succah, with breakfast every day and a chef's dinner at weekends and on holidays. Guests have a refreshing pool from April to October, an orchard, open farm animals and seasonal activities, the crater is about a 20-minute walk away, and volunteers can stay for two weeks or more. Its site lists horse riders among its guests, with a farm set up to host riders and their horses.

A closed cabin with a door and windows, built from ecological materials, sealed against rain and snow and aired in summer, each with a view from its balcony or window.
Toilets and showers are shared, in two blocks of private, roomy cubicles; the toilets are dry, with sawdust instead of flushing. No campfires or barbecues on the grounds.
