Kiortosh's stall in Tel Aviv's Carmel Market, opposite Rambam Street, selling the chain's caramel-coated Hungarian pastry and kiortosh ice creams

Kiortosh began in 2006 in a shop on Bograshov Street in Tel Aviv: its site says chef Doron Regev found the Hungarian kürtőskalács on a roots trip and brought it to Israel. The kiortosh is a hollow, caramel-coated yeast pastry baked on a wooden spit in a special oven, and the chain's six branches also sell cakes, biscuits and pastries made by hand in its own factory. This branch is a stall at 11 HaCarmel Street in the Carmel Market, opposite Rambam Street. It opens from 08:00 to 18:00 from Sunday to Thursday and on Friday from 07:00 until an hour before Shabbat, and is on the Tel Aviv-Yafo religious council's index of kosher businesses. The chain's menu prices a kiortosh at 42 shekels and its kiortosh ice creams, such as halva and pistachio, at 55.
