Beit HaFul, the house of ful, was founded in 1952, when, by the family's own account, the grandparents came to Israel and opened a small green hut in Beer Sheva's Shchuna Darom, serving food cooked from recipes they had brought from home in Egypt. It now has ten branches across the Negev, from Rahat to Dimona and Arad, five of them in Beer Sheva, and its site's favourites are hummus with ful, mushroom hummus, shawarma in a pitta, schnitzel or chicken breast on a plate, grandmother's challah and the grandson's sandwich. The Emek Sara branch is at 17 HaBadil Street in the Emek Sara industrial zone, with a phone of its own, and keeps daytime hours: Sunday to Thursday from 09:00 to 16:30 and Friday and holidays from 09:00 to 14:30.
