The house in Talpiot where S. Y. Agnon, Hebrew writer and Nobel laureate in literature, lived from 1931 until 1970, now a literary museum and national heritage site

Agnon House in Jerusalem is a national heritage site dedicated to the work of S. Y. Agnon (1887 to 1970), the central figure of modern Hebrew literature and the 1966 Nobel Prize in Literature laureate. Born in the Galician town of Buczacz as Shmuel Yosef Czaczkes, he arrived in Jaffa in 1908, where he took the pen name Agnon. He and his wife built the house in 1931, and he lived in it until his death in 1970. Today it is a literary museum and a venue for tours, lectures, performances and workshops, standing among cypress trees in a garden, and tickets and an audio guide are sold on its site.
