A museum of the ancient Near East on Jerusalem's Museum Row, showing thousands of objects from the lands of the Bible in 20 galleries

The Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem was founded by Dr. Elie Borowski and his wife Batya; he built a collection of art from the ancient Near East over more than 50 years, and the museum opened to the public on 11 May 1992. Its 20 galleries and special exhibitions show ancient vessels, gold jewellery and precious stones, sculpture, frescoes and other treasures of the peoples who lived in the region: Sumer, Egypt, Babylon, Assyria, Canaan, Persia, Greece and Rome. Public guided tours of the permanent galleries run every day except Saturday and are included in the ticket, and families can collect self-guided activity kits and booklets at the box office. Its site says the building is kept cool for the sake of the exhibits, and it has protected spaces for visitors, a café and a shop.
