Alma's branch in Nahalat Shiva, the old quarter where the family behind this Jerusalem chain of soups and kubbeh opened its first restaurant in 2008.

Alma began, by its own account, in 2008, when a Jerusalem family opened a meat restaurant in an old stone building in Nahalat Shiva; its soups became so well known that the family opened a small soup bar beside it, and more branches followed. The branches serve soups made fresh every day: kubbeh soups with beetroot, hamusta, okra or hamo and a vegan kubbeh, and pea, sweet potato, vegetable, lentil and bean soups. This branch is at 18 Yosef Rivlin Street in Nahalat Shiva, the quarter where the story began. It opens from 10:00 to 23:00 on Sunday to Wednesday and until midnight on Thursday, closes on Friday two hours before Shabbat, and opens again on Saturday night until midnight. It is one of the chain's seven branches: five in Jerusalem, one in Tel Aviv and one in Haifa.
