What happens in Bo

The last three plagues come on Egypt: locusts, darkness and the plague of the firstborn. The Israelites receive their first commandment as a people, to count the months, then the laws of the Passover offering and matzah and the duty to tell the story to their children. They leave Egypt in haste. The portion ends with the laws of the firstborn and of tefillin.

“And the LORD said unto Moses: ‘Go in unto Pharaoh; for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might show these My signs in the midst of them;”

Exodus 10:1, the opening verse, in the 1917 Jewish Publication Society translation.
