What happens in Miketz

Pharaoh dreams of seven fat cows and seven thin ones, and Joseph, brought up from prison, reads the dreams as seven years of plenty and seven of famine. Joseph is made governor of Egypt and stores grain. In the famine his brothers come to buy food and do not know him. He holds Simeon, asks them to bring Benjamin, and when they return has his silver cup hidden in Benjamin's sack.

וַיְהִי מִקֵּץ שְׁנָתַיִם יָמִים וּפַרְעֹה חֹלֵם וְהִנֵּה עֹמֵד עַל־הַיְאֹר

“And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.”

Genesis 41:1, the opening verse, in the 1917 Jewish Publication Society translation.
